Schwarzlicht Initials: Woodcut Dropcaps

Schwarzlicht Initials is a set of 26 dropcaps using the uppercase forms from my upcoming typeface, Schwarzlicht. The initials are inspired by the work of William Morris and merge a legible display blackletter with organic shapes.
This was my first time doing woodcuts, and I definitely learned a lot of tips and techniques along the way. The woodcuts are a little under 2.5" and are displayed below on a variety of backgrounds. Information about each background may be found on my Instagram account (@rachel__dugan).
All of the woodcuts were done using sapele wood (a type of mahogany) and were printed both individually and as a poster.

Prints of Schwarzlicht Initials were also created using an etching press. The prints shown below were done on hand marbled Rives paper as well as gray Stonehenge paper.

Here are the blocks and my initial test prints.
